Roath park lake unfortunately we are closed until further notice due to the high concentration of blue-green algae in the lake. the lake is tested daily to determine if it safe for us to rent out the pedalos and row boats safely again.. Roath park, opened in 1894, is cardiff's most popular public park and still retains its classic victorian atmosphere and layout. features roath park lake: the 30 acre man-made lake is a popular facility for fishing and boating.. Roath park was laid out on land gifted to cardiff corporation in 1887 by the marquess of bute and several other land owners. it was designed and laid out from 1889 onwards by william harpur, engineer to cardiff corporation and w.w. pettigrew, who was employed as head gardener to the corporation in 1892..
About us. roath park opened in 1894 and is cardiff’s most popular public park. we offer boat hire and other activities to help you enjoy your visit to the lake.. Roath park is great for kids of any age. i recently took my baby (9months)plus a frind with a baby and 2 older kids. the babies loved the ducks!! the older ones loved the park and gardens. there is a large play area plus small pedal boats for kids but also larger boat hire for the whole family..
